Desperate Journalist are a post punk band from England. The band was formed in north London in 2013, and have released an album, the self-titled Desperate Journalist, and the Good Luck EP, on Fierce Panda Records.
The band consists of Jo Bevan (vocals), Rob Hardy (guitar), Simon Drowner (bass) and Caz Hellbent (drums).[3]
The Quietus, reviewing their debut album, described them as "beautiful and spellbinding";[4] Drowned in Sound said that they had "effortless grace" and praised Bevan's vocals.[5]
The band have headlined the 100 Club, and played indietracks and the Whitby Gothic Weekend.[6] They played a short European tour in spring 2016 and toured with Chameleons Vox in the UK in August 2016.[7]
The band will release a second album, Grow Up, in March 2017. The first single, "Hollow" was released in October 2016. It was reviewed well by Stereogum, and has seen radio play on BBC Radio 6 Music.[8][9]
The band's name derives from the response of The Cure to a critical review of their debut album Three Imaginary Boys by Paul Morley.[4]
