Days of Abandon
Days of Abandon is the third studio album by American band The Pains of Being Pure at Heart. It was released in May 2014 under Fierce Panda Records in Europe and Yebo Music in the USA. Insound did a special bone yellow vinyl pressing of 500 units.
Reception
Consequence of Sound wrote that the album was "more deliberately articulated" than previous releases, comparing the style to The New Pornographers and Interpol.[2] The reviewer for Under the Radar found Days of Abandon to be remiscent of 1980s jangle pop "somewhere between The Smiths and The Cure's bouncier hits."[4] In a joint review by 10 Sonic Seducer writers, the critics compared the album to The Cure, The Smiths and New Order but also criticised it for being too shallow.[3]
