David Schipper (born September 27, 1991 in San Diego, California) is an American professional soccer player currently playing for York Region Shooters of the Canadian Soccer League.[1]

Education

David attended Bonita Vista High School between 2006-2010. Schipper chose to attend college at the University Of Arizona where he received his Bachelor's Degree in General Studies with a Sports and Society Emphasis and a Minor in Spanish.

Career

Early Career

In his one year of playing in High School, Schipper helped Bonita Vista High School Men's Soccer to be Ranked #2 in the County and led them to win the Mesa League Conference as well as being named to the Mesa League All Conference First Team. Prior to college, Schipper started his soccer career playing for the La Jolla Nomads, the same club that produced United States men's national soccer team players such as Frankie Hejduk, Steve Cherundolo, Joe Corona and many others. While playing for Nomads, Schipper got invited to the National Team Camp & was selected to the national team pool in November 2009. From 2010-2014, He went on to play four seasons of college soccer at the University of Arizona. He became captain his Senior year as well as achieving and receiving awards such as First Team All Conference, Conference Player of the Year, and Most Valuable Player. During his 4 year career at Arizona they went 32-15-7 reaching the National Semifinals in 2010 and have a Top 25 finish the following years. [2]

Professional

Schipper began his professional career in 2013, when he was invited to Mexico for trails with both Dorados de Sinaloa and Atlante FC who both play in the Ascenso MX but was released during pre-season without a contract.

Seattle Impact FC

Schipper signed his first professional contract with the Seattle Impact of the Major Arena Soccer League on November 28th for its inaugural season in 2014. In 6 games played during the 2014 season Schipper scored 3 goals on 9 shots. His goals came on 12/7/14 vs. Sacramento Surge on a 6-5 victory and scoring the game winning goal. Schipper’s other 2 goals came on 12/14/14 vs. Ontario Fury in a 13-10 defeat [3] [4] [5] [6] [7]

FC Force

He also went on to play a season with FC Force in the National Premier Soccer League in 2014 who won the Southwest Conference in the West Region that season.[8][9]

York Region Shooters

In April 2015, Schipper went on a trial with York Region Shooters of the Canadian Soccer League and signed a three year deal for the club. In 2015 the Shooters finished in 3rd place in the regular season during league play and were eliminated in the semi-finals of the playoffs by Toronto Croatia, who ended up winning the Canadian Soccer League championship final. At the end of the 2015 CSL season, Schipper was loaned out to Brazil with Cordino Esporte Clube who play in the Campeonato Maranhense and then to Goiatuba Esporte Clube who play in the Campeonato Goiano but was sidelined most of the season due to injury. Schipper came back to Canada for the second year of his contract with York Region Shooters for the 2016 season, who finished in 1st place at the end of the regular season and won the league title but were eliminated in penalty kicks to Hamilton City SC in the semi-finals of the playoffs.

Personal Life

Schipper is the son of Luis and Dora & has an older brother (Alan) and an older sister (Miriam). David supports Liverpool F.C. & F.C. Barcelona
