McArthur was a prominent tackle for the Tennessee Volunteers football team of the University of Tennessee from 1925 to 1927.[2]

He was selected All-Southern.[3] He once boxed teammate Dick Dodson.[4]

He was the director of McArthur garage in Pass-a-Grille, Florida.[5]
