Daifam

Daifam is a settlement in the far east of Bhutan. Daifam means, in the local language, 'place where the dairy products are produced'. It is said that during the 1950s and 1960s this place used to produce a significant amount of milk, curd, cheese and butter, hence the name Dairy-farm, which gradually became Daifam. It is located in Samdrup Jongkhar District, close to the border with India, and is connected by road with the Indian town of Bhairabkunda. The Bhairabkunda Temple is located in the Bhutan part and is now enclosed within a 15 foot tall wall due to security and safety reasons.
