Shri D. S. Negi is an IAS officer of 1975 batch. He retired as principal Secretary (Health & Family Welfare), Govt. of NCT of Delhi. He has had a distinguished service record at both state and national level and is also a keen strategist & planner. He is endowed with excellent communication and even more exceptional interpersonal and man management skills with the ability to motivate a large strength of men under adverse circumstances. He has authored many policy documents, reports, articles, traveloges and even books.
He retired as an Indian civil servant and administrator. He was the administrator of Mahe from August 22, 1977 to July 9, 1979. He served as the Secretary of Education (Govt of Delhi), the Health Secretary Delhi and later as Chief Secretary of Goa, where he conceptualized and founded the International Film Fair. He was chosen by the Government of India to oversee relief work on a war footing at Andaman and Nicobar immediately after the tsunami hit the islands with brutal force. He was widely appreciated by Indian media at the time, for being the man responsible for bringing the islands back to normal after the devastation.
Since becoming CEO of Rajiv Gandhi Cancer Institute & Research Centre in 2007.He has initiated and implemented new priorities for integrated programs in patient care, research, education and cancer prevention. He has a strong and committed appreciation for the needs of patients with cancer. Under his leadership the institute has made all around progress to scale new heights for patient care. There has been renewed vigor even for innovative research, making significant contributions to new and better therapies for the treatment of cancer. The exponential trajectory of service augmentation with a quantum up gradation of technological enhancement is a testimony to his true endeavors.
