Background
The collection was preceded by severe conflict over Volyn and Galician townships. He started with the fact that in November the year 1097, violating the agreements reached at the previous obsecration the Congress in Lyubech, Volyn Prince Davyd Igorevich with the support of the Kiev Prince Svyatopolk captured and blinded turbovskogo of Prince Vasil'ko Rostislavich (Svyatopolk tricked last in Kyiv). Among the reasons mentioned in the negotiations between the princes, it was suspected, in Alliance with Vladimir Cornflower for the purpose of taking Vladimir of Kiev, Cornflower — all Western counties, as well as fears of David for their own destiny.
Davyd took part in the campaign and take ownership of Cornflower, but to meet him made the elder brother Vasylko — Volodar, besieged by Davyd in Buzska and secured the release of his brother. In the spring of next year 1098, Rostislavich besieged by Davyd in Vladimir. In the end they made peace, having to massacre the boyars responsible for the blindness.
Cousin Sviatopolk, Vladimir Monomakh, Davyd Svyatoslavich, Oleg Svyatoslavich in 1098 gathered for the Congress in Gorodets and under the threat of war demanded from Sviatopolk the expulsion of Davyd Igorevich. Then Svyatopolk took Davyd Igorevich, Vladimir table, forcing him to flee to Poland, and Vladimir put his son Mstislav.
But after that Sviatopolk went to war with themselves Rostyslavychiv, alleging that their parish on dynastic law belong to him. Svyatopolk was defeated on the Rampage box. The conflict was joined legerski king Kalman I the Scribe, who spoke on the side of Sviatopolk. But expelled Davyd Igorevich sided Rostyslavychiv, brought the Cumans and defeated the Hungarians at VAGRA.
Then Davyd reined Mstislav in Vladimir and took the city. The son of Svyatopolk was killed by arrows during the siege of June 12, 1099. On August 5, Vladimir of Kiev was recaptured by warlord Potatoe, but then David with the help of the Cumans once again took possession of Vladimir and Lutsk, ally drove out Svyatopolk, Svyatoslav Davidovich.
Congress and its consequences
At the first meeting, held on August 10, Sviatopolk, Vladimir Monomakh, Davyd (Svyatoslavich) and Oleg "created the world between them." Having met again on August 30, they called to Davyd Igorevich. After listening to his explanation, the brothers pointedly moved away from him, ran with "common carpet" and denied the right of speech.
Steel brothers and on the horses; and Svyatopolk with his retinue, and Davyd and Oleg with his each separately. And Davyd Igorevich was sitting on the sidelines, and they have not admitted it to themselves, but especially deliberated for about Davyd. And, having reached, have sent to davydu their own husbands, Svyatopolk — putjatu, Vladimir — Aragosta and Ratibor, Davyd and Oleg — Torsina.
Ambassadors announced Davydu mass will: "don't want to give you the table of Vladimir, because you plunged the knife into us, which did not happen in Russian earth". He was deprived of Vladimir-Volyn (there was planted the son of Svyatopolk — Yaroslav). In return he received from the towns Svyatopolk Buzhsky Jail, Dubin, Czartoryski and Viru 400 hryvnias from the other brothers (200 Mr and 200 from Svyatoslavichi). Later Svjatopolk Davydu passed Dorogobuzh. Against the nephews of Rostislavich, it was decided to deprive his Cornflower Wallpapers — Terebovlya (probably because blinded the Prince was considered to be incompetent). To Volodarju ambassadors were sent with orders either to take the blind brother to himself, or to send to Kiev, where the princes promised to take care of him. However Rostyslavychi this decision is not obeyed. What conditions in the end peace was concluded, it is not known, but Vasilko has remained Prince tarabulski until his death.
Soon Sviatopolk conflict with Brest by Prince Yaroslav Yaropolice, his nephew from his older brother (who was killed by Rostislavich in 1086). In the end Yaroslav died in Kyiv prison.
