History
Chula Vista Center opened in 1962 as "one of the country's earliest regional malls". One of its original anchor stores was Marston's, which was later bought out by The Broadway, who also developed the mall.[2][3] The mall was expanded in 1987 to include The Broadway (now Macy's), J. C. Penney, Sears, and Mervyn's.[4] Mervyn's closed in 2008 and became Burlington Coat Factory in 2012.[5]
