Centro de Enseñanza Técnica y Superior (CETYS), commonly referred to as CETYS Universidad or CETYS University, is an educational system in the border between Mexico and the United States.
Located in the state of Baja California, México, and with campuses in Mexicali, Tijuana, and Ensenada, CETYS University currently offers undergraduate and graduate degrees in Business and Management, Engineering, and Social Sciences and Humanities, as well as a High School offering the International Baccalaureate program. It is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC). It is one of the few universities in the country that have been accredited by international accreditation agencies. It is well known for its internationalization programs, as well as its strong ties with both the industrial sector and the community.
History
Under the support of a group of visionary businessmen, who formed the Instituto Educativo del Noroeste (IENAC), a not-for-profit civil association that supports CETYS. The institution opened its doors on September 20, 1961, in Mexicali. Tijuana began operating in 1970, with the Ensenada campus following in 1975.
Currently, CETYS University is known as one of the top higher education institutions in Mexico, being nationally and internationally accredited. In 2012 it became the first university outside the U.S. to receive WASC accreditation, and its School of Business was granted accreditation in 2014 by the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs, also known as ACBSP.
Today, IENAC is led by Juan Ignacio Guajardo Araiza, while Dr. Fernando Leon Garcia is the university President.
For more than 50 years, CETYS University has played a fundamental role in the formation of leaders and entrepreneurs that have impacted the community at a local, national and international level.
