The Campeonato Nacional de Futebol de Praia ( English: National Beach Soccer Championship) is the main beach soccer tournament in Portugal. It is held is the summer months of July and August and is run by the Portuguese Football Federation. The competition started in 2010 after the unofficial Portuguese Beach Soccer League. Since 2015 it consists of two divisions: Divisão de Elite – the main championship, disputed by 8 teams (first a round-robin tournament, one leg) and then a play-off (one leg). The winner is the Portuguese Beach Soccer Champion and the two bottom teams are relegated to Divisão Nacional – the secondary division, open to the remain teams. The two best ranked teams are promoted to Elite.[1] Most of the top beach soccer players worldwide play in this championship.
