The California Association of Ayurvedic Medicine (CAAM) is a non-profit professional medical organization founded in 2000 with the purpose of the establishment and growth of Ayurvedic Medicine in the state of California and support of Ayurvedic practitioners.[1]

Mission and goals

The California Association of Ayurvedic Medicine holds the mission of advancing the practice of Ayurveda as an independent and respected profession. It seeks legislation to establish standards for scope of practice for practitioners and curriculum for Ayurvedic colleges within the state of California.[2] Goals include: Establishment of an accreditation agency for Ayurvedic colleges; A state approved license for Ayurvedic practitioners; A recognized definition of Ayurvedic practice and scope; Development of a Doctor of Ayurveda degree; A published peer-reviewed journal of Ayurvedic medicine.[3] In the past CAAM held an annual conference but stopped doing this after the National Ayurvedic Medical Association started doing so.[4]
