Brent Weeks (born March 7, 1977) is an American fantasy writer. He made The New York Times Best Seller list with The Blinding Knife in its first month, September 2012.[1]

Early life

Weeks was born in Montana on March 7, 1977, and graduated from Hillsdale College with a degree in English. He briefly worked as a teacher and bartender before moving to writing full-time.[2]

Writing

Orbit Books published his first novel in 2008; The Way of Shadows is also the first book in Weeks' The Night Angel Trilogy,[3][4] which has been printed in 10 different languages; the Way of Shadows has also been adapted into a graphic novel by Yen Press.[5]

The first book in his Lightbringer Series was released in 2010.[6] Originally intended to be a trilogy, his publishers announced in 2012 that it would span four books,[7] the third of which was released in August 2014.

On May 11, 2016, Brent Weeks announced two things in an email newsletter to fans as well as on his website, the first of which being that The Blood Mirror will be published on October 25/27 of 2016 (US/UK release dates, respectively) and secondly: "There will be five books in the Lightbringer Series, not four..." Weeks did not, however, promise or indicate a release date.[8]

Weeks lives and works in Oregon.
