Bistorta is a genus of flowering plants in the Polygonaceae family with only one accepted species, Bistorta sherei H. Ohba & Akiyama (2002).[1] It has been supported as a separate clade by molecular phylogenetic analysis.[2] A number of species that were once assigned to Bistorta are now either treated as synonyms of species in the genus Persicaria, or currently remain unresolved.[1]
Selected species names
- Bistorta officinalis Delarbre and Bistorta plumosa (Small) Greene are synonyms of Persicaria bistorta (L.) Samp.[1]
- Bistorta vivipara (L.) Delarbre is a synonym of Persicaria vivipara (L.) Ronse Decr.[1]
- Bistorta bistortoides (Pursh) Small and Bistorta macrophylla (D. Don) Sojak are currently unresolved names.[1]
