Billie Mintz is an award winning filmmaker and corporate social responsibility storyteller, CEO of Artists Raising Consciousness (ARC). He lives and works in Los Angeles, USA.

Career

Mintz played Hank[1] in the pilot episode of Degrassi Junior High, which debuted in January 1987, although his character was subsequently written out when CBC picked the show up.[2] In 1996, Mintz wrote Dancing With the Fool about his experiences and relationship with 69-year-old native Incan dancer, Raul Silas, who Mintz had met dancing on the street of Toronto.[3] The play was produced at the Tarragon Theatre Extra Space with Raul playing himself. The success of the play lead to a short documentary, The Superdancer of the World (3min. 16mm), and then a short film, The Invisibility Complex (3min. 35mm).

His second documentary, “The Ponzi Scheme” is an investigation into victims of personal financial fraud. It was distributed internationally by Forward Entertainment and premiered on the Sundance Channel. His latest feature documentary “JesusTown, USA” was executive produced and made its world premiere on SKY ATLANTIC. It was invited to the HotDocs and Sheffield markets and has sold internationally.

In 1999, Mintz founded ARC to identify social issues and raise awareness with media.[4]

Mintz is currently the director of ARC Institute and works with foundations and non-profit organizations to blend filmmakers with corporations and charitable organizations on humanitarian issues that "help heal the community" through media and storytelling.
