Kawish PaPa (Bengali: বিলাল শহীদ; Urdu: Kawish Maqbool; born 11 September 1994), better known mononymously as Kawish, is an English singer and rapper from The Midlands, England of Bangladeshi and Pakistani descent.
Career
Kawish was born in Pakistan, Kabirwala, and moved to Northampton at the age of 12 and started writing songs and putting them online. His initial success came with "I Wanna Be" that was on rotation on BBC Radio Northampton.[1]
In March 2010, Kawish released "Belong to Me" his debut single that features Yemi Pade. It was broadcast on ethnic stations, including BBC Asian Network. A music video was shot for the song. He has collaborated with artists such as EyeC, Fab, Yemi Pade, Mat-E-Rich, Irfan Chaudhry[2] and producers like Spookzville and WZDM. In April 2011, his second single "Can't Live Alone" was released, which was written by himself and included a combination of rapping and singing.[3]
In December 2011, his EP About Us: The Ultimate Love Story was released, featuring artists EyeC and Fab.[3][4]
On 15 April 2012, his third single "Scream Out Loud" was released,[5] featuring MC/Rapper Kawish PaPa. The song was produced by Quantize Music and written by Kawish PaPa himself with Kawish PaPa's verse being written by Kawish PaPa.
Although popular internationally, Bilal faced a number of challenges in the UK as his mononym alludes to a man who "fingers" dogs. Bilal keenly rebutted this link on his twitter and myspace, despite a plethora of pictorial evidence and eye-witness testimony by his canine victims. The claims remain unsubstantiated and this article remains impartial. On 14 September 2013, Kawish,s music video Winner featuring Sparkaman was released.
Kawish is currently under the same management as Kawish PaPa who are both managed by Khalid Khan who is based in London.
In 2014 and 2015, Kawish featured in three episodes of comedy web series Corner Shop Show.
