Bhagat Singh Kranti Sena

Bhagat Singh Kranti Sena (BSKS) is a New Delhi-based nationalist right-wing organization led by Tajinder Pal Singh Bagga. The organization is named after Indian Freedom fighter Bhagat Singh who sacrificed his life during the freedom struggle of India. It has claimed responsibility for the attack on lawyer Prashant Bhushan of the Aam Admi Party who had supported the plebiscite in Jammu and Kashmir in line with UN directive. It has also been active in various protests, including the protest against the shortening of the duration of the Amarnath Temple yatra and against activist .It also pasted posters, demanding Balochistan independence, near the Pakistan High Commission and other embassies.[1] [2]

The leader of the organization is Tajinder Pal Singh Bagga ,a former BJP member.

Assault on Prashant Bhushan

Three members of the organization physically attacked Prashant Bhushan due to his controversial statement on the Kashmir issue. One of the attackers said,"We will break the heads of those who will try to break India".[3]

Six hours before the attack, BSKS had posted on their Facebook wall - "God give us power to complete our mission".[4]

P. Chidambaram, the Home Minister, condemned the attack. He dispatched a representative to the hospital where Bhushan had been taken for a check-up. Bhushan described the activists as having a "fascist mindset" and stood by his statements.[5] Bal Thackeray, the leader of Shiv Sena, praised the group. He added,"No mercy should be shown to the people who advocate the division of the country".[6]

Protests

Arundhati Roy

The BSKS was involved in a violent protest against Arundhati Roy during the release of her collection of essays, named as Broken Republic.[7] The group termed her essays to be "against India, Army & in favour of Kashmir aazadi".[7]

Syed Ali Shah Geelani

BSKS, along with Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarthi Parishad, heckled Kashmiri Islamist political leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani. Geelani was in New Delhi to speak in a program organized by Center for Study of Developing of Societies.[8]

Amarnath yatra duration

The BSKS locked the Jammu and Kashmir House in order to protest against the decrease in the Amarnath Yatra duration.[9] BSKS leader, Tajinder Pal Singh Bagga, said, "We want the duration of the Amarnath Yatra to increase to at least 120 days and our struggle will continue till our demand is met".[9] He also claimed that J&K chief minister Omar Abdullah was under the house for an hour during the protest, however the police neglected any such claim.[9]

Popular Front of India

BSKS allegedly disrupted a seminar of Popular Front of India (PFI) at Ramlila Maidan on November 27, 2011. In a press release, BSKS alleged PFI to be "the perpetrators of various terrorist activities", and also said that they love jihad.[10] The protesters were arrested for violating sections 107 and 151 of the Indian Penal Code.[11][12]

Swami Agnivesh

The BSKS demanded an apology from Swami Agnivesh on his comments on an incident in which hostel warden of Visva-Bharati University forced a fifth grader to drink her urine, as a punishment for bedwetting.[1] They said,"He should apologise for his comments otherwise he will be made to do what the girl was forced to do by her warden".[1]

Shanghai

BSKS filed a PIL in the Delhi High Court, demanding an interim stay on the film Shanghai.[13] BSKS chief said that the song Bharat Mata ki jai should be remove from the film. He expressed problems with the lyrics of the song.[13] He said,"Bharat Mata is not a person, it's not a political party, it's not a system either. She is like a goddess to every Indian. In our national song Vande Mataram, she is compared to the goddess Durga. And, here she is told to be the home of such diseases, so, we have a strong objection to it."[13]
