Ballinacor South (Irish: Baile na Corra Theas) is a barony in County Wicklow, Republic of Ireland.
Etymology
Ballinacor North derives its name from the Ballinacor Castle. (from Irish Baile na Corra, town of the weir).[1]
Location
Ballinacor South is located in central County Wicklow, in the southern Wicklow Mountains.
History
O'Byrne (Ó Broin), originally of Kildare, were centered near here after the 12th century and included the territory of Gabhal Raghnaill. [2] The original Ballinacor barony was divided into south and north in 1798.
