They are currently ranked 3rd in the world, being the United States and Canada.[1] They have won the Women's Lacrosse World Cup twice (1986 and 2005), and were runners-up 4 times. In the FIL Women's World Cup in July 2009, the United States reclaimed the gold by winning a tightly contested final match-up over rival Australia 8–7 in Prague, Czech Republic.[2] The team for the 2013 FIL Women's Lacrosse World Cup, which was held in Oshawa, Canada,[3] was selected in December 2012.[4] The team is a full member of the Federation of International Lacrosse.[5]
