Anita C. Hill
Anita Carol Hill is an American minister. In 2015, she joined Coldwell Banker Burnet as a Realtor in Minnesota.
Early life
Hill was born in 1951, and as a child attended a Roman Catholic church in Shreveport, Louisiana. She spent her high school years in Crystal Springs, Mississippi, where she joined a United Methodist Church. She earned a bachelor's degree in general sciences at Mississippi State University.[1]
Career
Hill served as regional director of ReconclingWorks: Lutherans for Full Participation (www.reconcilingworks.org), an organization that works with Lutheran congregations in Minnesota, North Dakota and South Dakota from 2012-2015. Hill served as pastor at Saint Paul-Reformation Lutheran Church in Saint Paul, Minnesota, (United States) from 1983 to 2012. The congregation is part of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA). Her ordination is now recognized by the ELCA. Hill is a lesbian in a committed relationship, and ELCA guidelines no longer require celibacy from "ministers who self-identify as homosexuals." Hill made national headlines in 2001 when she was called and ordained by the congregation in defiance of previous ELCA regulations. She is one of a handful of openly gay and lesbian pastors who served congregations within the ELCA prior to change in the denomination's policies in 2009.
Hill was first rostered by Extraordinary Lutheran Ministries at the time of her "extra ordinem" ordination in 2001. She became rostered clergy of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America in 2010.
