Andrea Cavallari
Andrea Cavallari (born 1974) is a composer and visual artist.
Born in the United States, very young he moved to Italy where he studied piano, composition and visual arts. After diplomas in piano and composition, he followed specialization courses with Franco Donatoni besides studying ethnomusicology comparative and conducting. Her music receives the influence of works by Luciano Berio, John Cage, György Ligeti, but also by artists such as Jackson Pollock, Piero Manzoni, Rebecca Horn and many others. His music has been performed in many cities in Europe and America as well as in festivals such as Festival of Two Worlds in Spoleto, Documenta in Kassel, "Ninety-seven Festival" in Cincinnati, Ohio, "Jornadas de Musica del Siglo XX "in Segovia and at the Royal Festival Hall in London, Teatro la Fenice in Venice. Since 2003 he is "composer in residence" at the Kammeroper Frankfurt. He recorded with Rivoalto (Italy) and Capstone (New York). He founded the Accademia San Felice and FLAME / Florence Art Music Experience. He has been artistic director at the Estate Fiesolana, the Week of World Sacred Music, the FOG festival. He is currently co-director of the London Ear Festival. Cavallari is also involved in programming, art direction and music production, mainly aimed at experimentation and contemporary in classical music and electronics. He edited and produced projects contamination between visual art and contemporary music, creating acoustic-visual installations by William Kentridge and Philip Miller (Paper Music), Alfredo Pirri and Alvin Curran (Passi), Jannis Kounellis and Giacinto Scelsi. In 2008 founded the festival of contamination between visual art and music Firenze Suona Contemporanea, which takes place annually at the Bargello Museum and the Museum of the twentieth century Florence. He lives and works in Florence and London. Cavallari music is published by Verlag Neue Musik (Berlin).
