Alexander Tschäppät (born April 16, 1952) is a Swiss politician.[1] Tschäppät is a member of the Social Democratic Party of Switzerland. He has been a member of the National Council of Switzerland from 1991 to 2003 and is again a member of the council since 2011. He has been mayor (Stadtpräsident) of Bern since 2005.

Tschäppät was born on April 16, 1952 in Bern to Reynold Tschäppät and Lily Bürki.
