Abdullahi Aliyu Sumaila (21 March 1946 – 11 January 2003) was a fulani from the clan of Jobawa,married to Hajiya Saude Abdullahi Aliyu (daughter of Abdullahi Maikano Mahmoud Sarkin Fulanin Wudil and Hajiya Rabi the grand daughter of Alkalin Gano, she is a retired Federal Permanent Secretary nominee and Director at the Federal Ministry of Education). He was a Nigerian politician and administrator. One of the first administrators to inherit the post first republican administrative structure instituted by the military,[1][2] many of his administrative reforms where integrated into the bureaucracy of the Nigerian federation.[3][4] A graduate of Ahmadu Bello University. His working experience started with the Kano Local Education Authority where he trained a number of administrators like Kabiru Ibrahim Gaya.[5][6] He served as an Assistant Secretary at the Cabinet Office and Ministry of Information and Home Affairs and Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Works and Transport and the Civil Service Commission. He was also the Secretary of the Kano State Executive Council and the first Principal Secretary to the first Executive Governor of Old Kano State Abubakar Rimi.[7][8] He also served the Federal Government as the Board Chairman of Hadejia-Jama'are River Basin Development Authority. He was also the Chairman of KADRU Limited a federal government and Kano State Investment and Properties Limited company on tomatoes production. He chaired the Board of Kano State Television Corporation, Aurum Nigeria Limited and Precise Oil Resources Limited and was a Board Director in Arewa Steel Works Limited, United Confectionery Limited, Hayder Manufacturing and Trading Company and Dayekh Tiles Limited.He was the Author 'Rise and Fall of the Kano People's Party (1973).
