AOMEI OneKey Recovery, developed by AOMEI Technology, is a utility to create custom recovery partition, designed to backup and restore system with one key. Just like Lenovo one key recovery, but it supports backing up all types of laptops and computers not only Lenovo computers. Once system crashes, use it to restore computer to its factory default or a previously backed up state by pressing "F11" (default) or "A" key during system startup.[2][3] To store backups, AOMEI OneKey Recovery charged editions support multiple storage devices, including local disks, external hard disks, Solid-state drives (SSD), USB flash drives etc. However, the free edition only supports backup to system to factory partition.[4]
Editions
There are five editions of AOMEI OneKey Recovery: Free, Professional, Premium, Technician and Customization.[5]
Functionality
Every edition has the basic functions. Some features lack in Free edition, such as backup system to other location, change the compression level of the backup, restore system for local disk or external disk etc. And only the Customization edition supports customize logo UI and rebrand.
System Backup
Onekey backup system and create a factory partition where the system backup image is saved in system disk, and the recovery partition is hidden by default.
System Recovery
Onekey restore computer to its factory settings or a previously backed up state, recovers Operating System as well as all applications, drivers and all personal data to the initial state.
Emergency Recovery key
Once backing up system, can press F11 or A to restore system image quickly after starting up.
Weakness
- After release the V1.6, the software update from freeware to charged software, and the features of free edition are very limited.
- Free edition require enough space on system disk to store system image.
- Some computer need download Windows AIK.
Critical reception
Lifehacker reviewed OneKey Recovery 2015. He commended use it to create your own recovery partition, and assessed it as another tool in arsenal for nasty viruses that you can't get rid of.[6]
PC Advisor editor Nick Peers reviewed the 1.5 version and commented AOMEI OneKey Recovery that “If you want to recreate your computer’s recovery partition or create a custom one based on its current setup, AOMEI OneKey Recovery does the job.” However, he said that there are a few hurdles to jump through, such as Windows AIK need, and enough free space on primary drive for the recovery partition to squeeze into.[7]
The Windows Club reviewed AOMEI OneKey Recovery 2014. “Due to the utility, simplicity and efficiency of this tool, we give a thumb up." commented Anand Khanse, admin of TheWindowsClub.com and a 10-year Microsoft MVP Awarder in Windows. He appreciated the product's extremely user-friendly and hence easy to use.[8]
Softpedia editor, Alexandru Dulcianu reviewed AOMEI OneKey Recovery 2014, expressed concern over quite a small number of features and is mostly designed for personal use; he gave this product a final score of 3 out of 5. However, he also said the utility can effectively save and restore documents, and the wizard-driven interface makes it easy-to-use for inexperienced users as well.[9]
