History
AKJM was established in 1961 in St. Dominic’s Parish, Kanjirapally. It began as a medium school, named after Mar Mathew Kavukatt, Archbishop of Changanacherry, in his sacerdotal jubilee year. It moved to its present site in 1963, serving primarily Catholic boys. A decade later a boarding house was opened. primarily for boys from the Kuttanad and High Range areas. In 1995 the boarding house was closed. AKJM Junior School began in 1995 and higher secondary in 2002, with two batches - biology and science with maths. Also in 2002 the school began admitting girls.[2]
Vision
AKJM School, a Jesuit institution, draws its inspiration from Jesus Christ and envisions the formation of boys and girls with noble character. It strives for the development of the whole person making them men and women for others. As an educational institution, it strives to provide an environment and training context for the students to prepare themselves for active and responsible life commitment for the formation of a just and caring social order.
