8TriMedia Broadcasting Network is a radio network in the Philippines that is owned by parent company 8TriMedia Pro, Inc. The network broadcasts its programming over DZRJ 810 AM and on Cablelink channel 7 under the name 8TriTV.
The network maintains studio facilities, news center and head offices located at Room 404 of the Seneca Plaza Building, along E. Rodriguez Sr. Ave. in New Manila, Quezon City. 8TriMedia provides live video streaming services on Ustream, YouTube and its official website. The network also manages its Facebook, Twitter and Instagram accounts. Currently, DZRJ 810 AM, the home station of 8Trimedia Broadcasting Network was ranked as the Top 10 AM radio stations in Metro Manila.[1]
History
The network was founded in 2014 by rice trader Jojo Soliman of Pure Group of Companies, who has a controlling stake and interest in the parent company 8TriMedia Pro. In the same year, 8TriMedia was first aired over radio station DZJV 1458 kHz. It started with 4 programs, such as Pagibig, Musika, Atbp. & Showbiz Galore.
A year later, in April 2015, the network transferred its airtime to DWBL 1242 kHz, launching new programs hosted by several veteran radio personalities, such as Percy Lapid, Miguel Gil, former Manila city mayor Alfredo Lim, among others.
However, 8TriMedia ended its blocktime agreement with both stations, citing listeners' complaints of the stations' weak signal. Instead, the network would consider having an agreement with a 50,000-watt AM radio station in Metro Manila to gain listenership and to find a new home for its radio programs.
On October 5, 2015, 8TriMedia has started airing over DZRJ 810 AM, retaining some of the network's programming but added a few more programs to its regular schedule. These include "Good Morning Pilipinas", "Girl Talk: Usapang Babae", "Balita Alas-Kuwatro", and "Otso Diretso".
On January 4, 2016, 8TriMedia's radio programming are now available to cable television through an exclusive agreement with cable TV provider Cablelink. 8TriTV, the television counterpart of 8TriMedia, can be seen on Cablelink channel 7 (available only in Metro Manila and nearby provinces). On February 15, 2016, the cable channel would launch its 19-hour programming schedule (from 5:00 am to 12:00 mn) by adding new programs in the morning and evening slots.
On March 12, 2016, the network launched its weekend operations with an all-music format similar to that of FM radio stations in the country, and hired DJs from various Metro Manila FM stations, including Private Ryan and Sexy Yannie, followed by Baby James and Monica Figueras.
From August to October 2016, the network implemented major changes to its programming, including the expansion of "Heart to Heart" to 3 hours, the hiring of seasoned anchors including Rey Langit, Jimmy Morato, Gani Oro, Angelo Almonte and Tates Gana, and a revamp of the cable channel's weekend programming. On November 7, 2016, Neil Ocampo, known for his voice impersonations of the country's sought-after politicians, joined the network as the anchor of show "Todo Arangkada Balita".[1]
On October 2016, the network announced plans to expand 8TriTV's availability to cable TV providers in Pampanga and Baguio City, which is planned to launch in November 2016.
Broadcast hours
The programs of 8TriMedia Broadcasting Network can be heard on DZRJ 810 AM, Monday to Friday from 8:00 am to 7:00 pm.
Its television counterpart 8TriTV (formerly on Cablelink channel 7) operates Monday to Friday from 5:00 am to 2:00 am, Saturday from 5:00 am to 1:00 am and Sunday from 5:00 am to 12:00 mn.
Newscasts
During its tenure with DZJV, 8TriMedia didn't have its own newscast. On April 2015, 8TriMedia launched its own newscast, Balita sa Tanghali. On October 4, 2015, coinciding with the network's transfer to DZRJ, it added another half-hour newscast, Balita Alas-Kuwatro, which was removed after a few months.
Balita sa Tanghali was first aired at 12:30 pm with Miguel Gil as its first anchor. However, the program was later moved to the prime 12:00 nn slot. Melchor Balawas took over as the main anchor at that time, replacing Gil.
On August 2016, following the transfer of Rey Langit to DZRJ and 8TriMedia, the newscast was retitled as "Balitang Tanghali".
In September 2016, the network launched a weekend counterpart of the midday newscast called "Balitang Tanghali Weekend Edition" with Miguel Gil as its main anchor. However, the weekend edition was cancelled due to the network's restructuring on its weekend programs.
