McGuirk's Mississippi Cavalry Regiment (3rd Mississippi Cavalry Regiment) was a formation in the Confederate States Army during the Civil War, and was commanded by Colonel John McGuirk.[1]

History

McGuirk's Regiment was organized on June 9, 1863 in the Mississippi Militia at Panola from new and existing companies of cavalry as the Third Regiment, Mississippi State Cavalry, and assigned to the Fifth Military District, Department of Mississippi and East Louisiana.[2] It was reorganized in April, 1864, and mustered into Confederate service on May 3, 1864 as Third (McGuirk's) Regiment, Mississippi Cavalry. McGuirk's Regiment surrendered on May 4, 1865.[3]
