The 2004 German Grand Prix was a Formula One motor race held on 25 July 2004 at the Hockenheimring. Jenson Button overcame a 10-place penalty to finish 2nd. This proved to be Cristiano da Matta's final Grand Prix; for Hungary he was replaced by compatriot Ricardo Zonta.

Kimi Räikkönen's rear wing was broken during the race, leading to a massive accident.
Marc Gené was replaced at Williams by Antônio Pizzonia, returning to Formula One after being sacked by Jaguar following the 2003 British Grand Prix.
The first start was aborted after Olivier Panis indicated a problem with his car. This led to a second formation lap, and the shortening of the race by 1 lap.
