• October 23: ABS-CBN Corporation celebrates the 40th years of Philippine television and the 40th anniversary of ABS-CBN. Within the year, which happens to be the Chinese Year of Rooster, the network itself relaunched the Sarimanok with a new station ID featuring the legendary bird aside its slogan "Bringing 21st Century Television to the Filipino".
