The 1979 Norton Skate was the Skate America competition of the 1979–80 figure skating season and also was the test event for the upcoming 1980 Winter Olympics.[1] The event was organized by the United States Figure Skating Association. Medals were awarded in the disciplines of men's singles, ladies' singles, pair skating, and ice dancing.

The competition was held in Lake Placid, New York.
