Deaths
- 19 June – Solomon Tshekisho Plaatje, intellectual, journalist, linguist, politician, translator and writer, dies in Kimberley at the age of 55.
- 15 July – Cornelis Jacobus Langenhoven, playwright, poet, journalist and politician, dies in Oudtshoorn aged 58.
- 30 December – Daisy de Melker (46), is hanged for the murder of her 20-year-old son Rhodes Cowle, who died on 5 March 1932 of arsenic poisoning.
